Arsenal have recently had a bid turned for the Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White.
However, the transfer saga is far from over. We covered reports today that the Gunners remain in talks to sign the England international and they will return with an improved offer.
According to Football Insider, the player expects to move to the London club as well. White has apparently informed his friends that he will join the Gunners this summer.
The 23-year-old heavily linked with a move away from Brighton last summer as well and Leeds had multiple bids turned down for the player. Brighton will be holding out for a premium this summer and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners are willing to pay the asking price.
SL View: Ideal replacement for David Luiz?
White is one of the most exciting defensive talents in the Premier League and he could be a superb long term investment for the Londoners.
Arsenal will need an alternative to David Luiz next season and White seems like an ideal fit. He is impressive on the ball like the Brazilian and he can play as a defensive midfielder too.
Luiz’ contract expires later this month and bringing in a quality defender should be one of Mikel Arteta’s priorities.
The asking price for the player might seem steep right now but White has the potential to justify the outlay in future. If he manages to fulfil his potential, the transfer could seem like a bargain.
